Projects

Cyrtodactylus Consobrinus

Cyrtodactylus Consobrinus are a very new project for us here at Gecko Obsessions.  It all started off with us finding a WC specimen at a local show, an adult female.  We are still on the search for a male for her.  Like most Cyrtodactylus, the Consobrinus like to spend their time in tight confined spaces, but require slightly higher temperatures than most.  We believe that they perfer rock outcropping and crevices, as well as logs and other places that their wide slender bodies will fit in.

Eublepharis Macularius

Eublepharis Macularius, also known as the Leopard Gecko, is a very popular species of gecko kept here in the US.  There are many known morphs and when combined the possibilities are endless.  Here at Gecko Obsessions we tend to prefer to work with linebred traits with our Sunglow project being our absolute favorite.

Nephrurus Wheeleri

Nephrurus Wheeleri are members of the Knob Tail family and come from Australia.  They are very comical geckos and we enjoy them alot here at Gecko Obsessions.

Paroedura Picta

Paroedura Picta, also known as the Panther Gecko, are a very neat little species of gecko from Madagascar ranging from 4 to 6 inches nose to tail.  They are a ground dwelling gecko, but also like to climb low laying objects from time to time.  They are very prolific and can be very enteraining to watch.  There are currently a few different morphs known in captivity including a red phase, snow, and xanthic.  Here at Gecko Obsessions we are currently working with the red phase but hope to also work with the others in the near future.

Pachydactylus Carinatus

Pachydactylus Carinatus are the first Pachydactylus species we have worked with here at Gecko Obsessions.  We picked up a young pair a few months back and hope to have some offspring from these cool little geckos in a few months.  They are a very small species of gecko who perfer to spend alot of their time im small crevices in rock piles.  They are very fast, and voracious eaters, you will see them eat 2 crickets at once at times!  Over all they are awesome little geckos and we enjoy working with them a lot!

Goniurosaurus Hainanensis

Goniurosaurus Hainanensis, also known as Chinese Cave Geckos , come from the Hainan Island which is located south of China.  Hainanensis are the most common Cave Gecko currently being kept in the US.  There are alot of wild caughts being brought into the US every year, but most of them tend to be grossly underweight and dehydrated.  Here at Gecko Obsessions we hatched out our first generation of Hains this season.  Having typical Cave Gecko characteristics Hains are shy and perfer to have quite a few hiding spots, but when they come out to hunt and explore your in for a show.

Goniurosaurus Orientalis

Goniurosaurus Orientalis, also known as the Tonaki Cave Gecko, are an average size Cave Gecko.  They get much larger than some species like Kuriowae but are alot thinner built that Hainanensis or Luii.  They are Endemic to Japan and are highly protected, that means all Orientalis here in the states are CB.  They are quite hard to come by and we are thrilled to have them as a project of ours.  We currently only have a single female here at Gecko Obsessions but hope to get her a mate very soon!

Goniurosaurus Yamashinae

Goniurosaurus Yamashinae are also known as the Kume Cave Gecko because they are endemic to the Kumejima Island, which is part of the Ryukyu islands.  They are alot like Orientalis in the fact that they are similar in body build and over all size, as well as the fact that they also come from Japan where they are a highly protected species.  They have more of a banded patternon their back, with some extra markings threw out and a wild pattern on their head.  Unlike other Cave Geckos, their Eyes are a yellowish-brown to golden color.

Lygodactylus Capensis

Lygodactylus Capensis are very much like Lygodactylus Williamsi in pretty much every way except their color/pattern.

Lygodactylus Kimhowelli

Lygodactylus Kimhowelli are very much like Lygodactylus Williamsi in pretty much every way except their color/pattern.

Lygodactylus Williamsi

Lygodactylus Williamsi, also known as Electric Blue geckos, are a small but very enteraining species.  These little guys, as most Lygos do, get around 2.5-4 inches full grown.  Male Williamsi’s are a beautiful powder blue color, while females and young are green.  Being such a small gecko you can easily house a pair in a small exo-terra, sit back kick your feet up and watch these neat little geckos run around and interact.  Theres never a dull moment watching these guys!
